1) Task 4.1 Problem Area Sampling
Plan
The Problem Area Sampling Plan
was similar in operation to the Sampling Plan described in the Bacteriological Survey
Report (Task 3.3) but focused on the following sampling 5 sites:
1) SJ10, Trabuco Creek, below Ramos St.
2) SJ6, San Juan Creek above Trabuco Creek
3) SJC2 San Juan Creek at PCH
4) SJ02, San Juan Creek at the beach (behind berm)
5) SJ25, Ocean at San Juan Creek
Sites SJ10 and SJ6 are upstream and far removed from SJC2
and SJ02, (lower end of the creek) and SJ25, the ocean in front of the berm.
2) Task 4.2 Conduct Problem Area Sampling Plan
OCHCA personnel collected water samples once a week for 13
weeks (September 19, 2001 through December 10, 2001) at each site, resulting in
total of 69 samples.
3) Task 4.3 Problem Area Bacteriological Survey Report
The survey has been completed and the sampling analysis is
in progress.
4) Task 5.1 Construct Bacterial Isolates Library from Known
Species
E. coli and Enterococcus isolates and were obtained from fecal
samples to construct libraries and to be used for accuracy determination. Human
and animal fecal samples were collected near the study area from a sewage treatment
plant, horse stables, animal clinics, hospitals, and the berm area adjacent to San
Juan Creek.
The status of the Antimicrobial Resistance Analysis (ARA)
and Ribotyping bacterial source identification testing are listed in Table 1.
