County Role Flow Chart
Our division’s role in the grand scheme of things is to assist and coordinate with the cities and and special districts in complying with regulations such as the non-point source NPDES permits and the watershed based total maximum daily load or TMDL requirements. We also assume the lead local sponsor role in planning regional solutions in watershed and coastal feasibility studies and project implementation. To help ensure that information is disseminated to all interested parties, we have developed a network of special committees such as the Newport Bay Coordinating Council, the Coastal Coalition, the Dana Point Harbor Quality Committee, and the Newport Bay Watershed Management and Executive Committees.
