OC Watersheds 24 Hour Water Pollution Hotline
Preventing the discharge of pollutants to receiving waters is essential to protecting
beneficial uses. In order to maintain the chemical, physical, and biological integrity
of Orange County's aquatic resources, and protect public health, the County has
a team of specially trained personnel who respond to water pollution incidents on
a 24 hour basis, 365 days a year. The OC Public Works Water Pollution Response Unit
has a primary goal of protecting the environment but investigations may in some
instances lead to civil or criminal prosecution.
In Orange County, with very few exceptions, it is prohibited by Federal, State,
and local laws to discharge anything other than clean stormwater runoff to the storm
drain system. Please view the document at the bottom of the page for a list of discharges
that are not prohibited under certain circumstances.
To report a spill to the OC Public Works Water Pollution Response Unit, use our
online form found on the left hand navigation, call 1-877-89-SPILL or in the case
of a chemical emergency, call 911.
If you would like to report a problem with a street, storm drain or flood control
channel (For example, debris obstructing flow, foul odors, overgrown vegetation,
trash and debris present, etc.) use our online form found on the left hand navigation
or call the 24 Hour Street/Drain Problem Reporting Hotline at 714/955-0200.
